Hey, I'm Silas
I'm a software developer based in Switzerland, and I built Wandria as a side project over a few weeks. I'm actually just starting out as a traveler — I haven't seen much of the world yet, and that's exactly why I wanted to build this. I want to capture every memory from the very beginning, not wish I'd started tracking years ago.
Why I built this
I looked at what was out there and nothing felt right. Some tools were way too complicated — packed with features I didn't need. Others were too simple and looked like they hadn't been updated in years. There was nothing in between: something that's beautiful, easy to use, and actually makes you want to open it. So I built it.
The name
Wandria comes from “wander” — and it sounds like a place you'd actually want to visit. That felt right for what this is.
What matters to me
Three things, and they're all equally important to me:
- Privacy.Your data is yours. I don't sell it, I don't share it, I don't run ads. Your map is private by default.
- Beautiful design. Your memories deserve better than a spreadsheet or a cluttered dashboard. I care a lot about how this looks and feels.
- Simplicity. No feature bloat, no learning curve. Pin a place, draw a route, add a photo — done.
Where this is going
Wandria started as a passion project, and I'm sharing it because I think others might feel the same way I do. It has the potential to grow into something bigger, but for now it's just me, building something I genuinely want to use.
My dream? Visit every country in Europe and set foot on every continent at least once. Wandria is how I'll remember it all.
